Peter Bucknell, Professor of Viola at the State University of New York until 2003 was a member of the New York Harp Trio, the Danel Quartet, has performed with the Stradivari Sextet, playing the “Mahler Stradivarius Viola”. He won First Prize at the 1992 Auckland Viola Congress Competition and the Audience Prize at the Osake String Quartet competition. He studied with Yuri Bashmet, Rainer Moog and Donald McInnes. He has a Doctorate from the State University of New York. He has recorded chamber music on the Musica Omnia label and performed as guest solo viola with the Barcelona,Symphony, La Monnaie Symphonie Orchestra, Concerto Köln. He recently wrote "Violin is Easy" a companion to any violinist , teacher or student practicing the violin.
